"Madness in great ones must not unwatched go"

As long as there have been people, there have been societies that man has created for strength. Tribes, clans, towns, cities, you name it, they band together for a cause. Whether it be for marketing goods or just trying to survive, these groups have been essential since the beginning of time.

But in order for the groups to function, there must be some law or code to abide by, a figure of authority, a "government" no matter how small to keep things in check. They're not all democracies, most typically in a clan or tribe, there is a supreme leader, or dictator.He has the highest say in everything, and can even punish people to death.

People can become afraid of this figure. Sometimes so powerful, this one goes unchallenged in any matter by his government or people. Stalin for instance could walk into a room and have people clap for hours, no one wanting to stop, or Stalin might have to send his "police" to his house to make sure he was not a traitor, he might not be seen again. Rule by Fear was the law of the land, and it worked pretty good.

In history, rulers have abused their power in a way that didn't really help anyone else, or maybe they were loyal nationalists who loved their country and thought they could improve it, like Hitler.But he wasn't very fair to a lot of people, such as Jews.Not unlike the president of Iran, but he just said he was going to do that, which is why people need to keep an eye on him.Saddam, who had a beef with the Kurds started the Gulf War, and he got run outa town, then ended up getting himself killed for being a dumbass.Even North Korea is making a lot of tension.They are prime examples of why the people of a government have an obligation to have checks and balances on their leaders, sort of like what King Claudius said.

Nowadays it's more important than ever to monitor what our positions of power are doing in all nations to ensure the safety of the world as a whole. Sometimes force is necessary to keep order, but power can be abused and things could get out of hand and with today's weapons it could get ugly quick.
